Types of Dental Sedation Treatments We Provide
Dental IV Sedation
Dental IV sedation is for our patients who have a high level of anxiety and fear. This type of sedation can only be offered by dentists trained and licensed in the state of Florida for conscious sedation. Some patients with long dental appointments also opt for this type of sedation to make the appointments more pleasant.
The licensed dentist has more control with the IV route than with the oral sedation delivery. Medicines are delivered through an IV line placed in the arm. Dr. Sanchez and Dr. Vidal have sedated many patients that travel from central and south Florida since 2003. A comprehensive exam is necessary previous to the sedation appointment to determine dental needs and medical status of each patient.

Oral Dental Sedation
Unlike IV sedation, oral dental sedation uses medication to help patients relax during their dental procedures. Pills are taken orally to relieve light to severe fear and anxiety in patients. : Any licensed dentist is able to prescribe oral medications previous to starting a dental procedure. Only IV licensed dentists are able to maintain the level of sedation throughout the procedure with more pills. As the medicine takes effect, the patient can be in a very relaxed state during the dental procedures.
Nitrous Oxide Gas Dental Sedation
Nitrous oxide gas sedation (laughing gas sedation) is also another sedation treatment we offer. We use nitrous oxide gas sedation with patients who have light to medium fear and anxiety of dental treatments. Safe and effective, nitrous oxide gas allows the patient to go home by themselves since the sedation effects are reversed effectively with 100% oxygen at the end of the procedure.
